2019 Wisconsin Drive-In Event

January 27, 2017 By marykay

On February 6, 2019, WAME will host the 2019 Wisconsin Drive-In Event at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education. We are hoping for strong representation from all six WMEA districts at this important event. Please join us!
  • When: February 6, 2019 (see agenda below)
  • Where: Wisconsin Center for Music Education (Google Map)
This event will represent an important step toward WAME’s 2020 Wisconsin Drive-In Day ASK, namely the inclusion of Fine Arts data on annual school-district report cards in Wisconsin. Our aim is for future report cards to include enrollment rates in the Fine Arts as an “other indicator.” We hope that the inclusion of Fine Arts data on annual report cards will help to elevate the status of the Arts as part of a well-rounded education. Our proactive approach in this regard will also afford us the opportunity to collaborate with DPI regarding specific data points to be included on future report cards. Looking ahead, we intend to collaborate with other Wisconsin Arts organizations to further focus our ideas in order to develop a meaningful and holistic ASK of DPI regarding Fine Arts data – and eventually a strong ASK of our state legislators at the 2020 Wisconsin Drive-In Day.

Agenda
– Wisconsin Drive-In Event on February 6, 2019:

  • 9:00 AM – meet with DPI leadership to discuss data collection options and needs
  • 10:00 AM – explore data collection examples/approaches from other states
  • 10:30 AM – develop guiding questions regarding goals for Fine Arts data collection
  • 11:30 AM – lunch (on site)
  • 12:30 PM – identify specific wants/needs associated with 2020 report-card ASK
  • 1:30 PM – brainstorm regarding data presentation options (future report cards and more)
  • 2:30 PM – draft plan to move forward (collaboration with DPI, Arts Organizations, etc)
  • 3:00 PM – dismissal

Please note that this event will be in place of
the Wisconsin Drive-In Day at the State Capitol,
which will be postposed until 2020.
